In the framework of the well-established relations between Egypt and France and in promotion of strategic partnerships and integration between law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies at the international level, with its significant impact in facing cross-border challenges and protecting national economies, the President of the Republic has approved the official visit of Minister/ Amr Adel, ACA Chairman, to France at the invitation of Mr. François-Noël Buffet, Minister under the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and Mrs. Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of Public Accounts, under the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.
The visit included a number of high-level meetings and the signing of two letters of intent on expanding the horizons of joint cooperation in the areas of combating corruption, confronting organized crime and cybercrimes, enhancing integrity and combating corruption in the customs sector, and confronting money laundering and financial fraud crimes, in parallel with building the staff capacity in a way that serves the interests of both countries. This cooperation shall promote the efforts made to combat these cross-border crimes; in addition to provision of training programs for the African continent to support the anti-corruption cadres and to benefit from the technical and training potentials of the ACA’s National Anti-Corruption Academy.
The Egyptian delegation was also briefed on French experience and expertise in this field. The delegation visited several law enforcement agencies, including the French Anti-Corruption Agency (AFA), the Foreign Investment Control Office, and the National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI), with the aim of exchanging experience and knowledge in areas of common interest to develop regulatory work mechanisms at the national and international levels.
