As part of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA)’s ongoing efforts to ensure the integrity of government institutions, governance of administrative procedures and preservation of public funds in all sectors, the Authority’s investigation revealed that two former CEOs of two subsidiaries  of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater in two Delta governorates sought and requested a bribery from the owners of contracting companies in abuse of their  functional powers to award and receive numerous contracting and mechanical works at lift stations and sewage plants. They also sought to facilitate the approval of payments for the contractors and the receipt of works. The defendants were apprehended and brought before the Public Prosecution that confirmed, through its investigations, the validity of the offenses.

The case was referred to the competent court. They were sentenced to an aggravated penalty of 7 years for one and 10 years for the other and a fine of EGP 2.2 million.
