In line with the ACA’s efforts to prevent and combat corruption and with Egypt’s digital transformation, the Authority was able to seize a gang specialized in fabricating and forging government documents stating the eligibility of some of their clients to social welfare benefits designated for people with special needs, contrary to the truth. They further facilitated the seizure of public money as they enabled their clients to obtain exceptional pensions and import cars without paying customs duties.

Artificial intelligence analyses of the ACA’s databases revealed an increase in customs and tax exemptions for equipped medical vehicles during 2022, amounting to EGP 4.5 billion. It was also monitored that some citizens used the integrated services cards provided by the state to people with special needs, though they are free of any disabilities, and used them to import cars without paying customs duties, as well as obtain exceptional pensions. By expanding the scope of investigations, it was detected that a gang was involved in forging official documents associated with government hospitals and specialized medical councils and used them to facilitate the seizure of public money. Upon presentation of the incident before the Attorney General, an arrest and search warrant was issued, where the documents and devices used in the forgery were found. The accused confessed to the offences against them.  and a decision was issued to detain them on remand pending investigations.
