On day three of the 13th session of the Implementation Review Group and the 13th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, Minister Hassan AbdelShafi Ahmed, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA), and the President of the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP9), met with Dr. Ghada Wali, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The Minister thanked Her Excellency and the Secretariat for the unremitting efforts to prepare the needed documents for the sessions, as well as the diligence in promoting cooperation with Egypt to raise awareness of the risks of corruption, which was reflected in the Egyptian community’s growing awareness of their crucial role in the efforts to prevent and combat corruption.
For her part, Dr. Ghada Wali thanked Minister HassanAbdel Shafi Ahmed for the successful leadership of the Working Groups meetings during the 13th session, and applauded the organization of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP9) in Sharm El Sheikh in December 2021.
Dr. Ghada Wali added that she intends to direct the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Cairo to coordinate with the Administrative Control Authority and facilitate training in preventing and combating corruption through the ACA’s Egyptian Anti-Corruption Academy (EACA).
