Minister Hassan AbdelShafi Ahmed, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, and the President of the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP9), inaugurated the 13th session of the Implementation Review Group and the 13th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, held in Vienna in the period between 13 -17 June 2022.

 

The sessions, commencing today, shall witness the meetings of  the Bureau, along with the adoption of the report of the Implementation Review Group on the thirteenth session. Moreover, discussions will take place on the pathways to exchange information, successful practices, and communications technologies for the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

 

Delibrations are set to encompass a dialogue on the challenges and success stories in Anti-corruption awareness-raising, education, training and research to prevent corruption, whereby the efforts of Egypt, Austria, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and UNESCO will be laid out. In light of this, Egypt will showcase its successful practices in raising awareness of the hazards of corruption and providing training on combating and preventing corruption, while highlighting anti-corruption efforts by the Egyptian Anti-Corruption Academy (EACA).

 

The conference further includes a follow-up to the special session of the General Assembly on “challenges and measures to prevent and combat corruption and strengthen international cooperation.”

 

Meetings on the sidelines of the conference will be  held between the heads and officials of anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies in some countries and international stakeholders participating in the conference.
