The United Nations office said that the outcomes of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption will guide the international community in its efforts to combat corruption for years to come.

The UN office added that COSP9 has been concluded yesterday, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt after strenuous work to streamline discussions and negotiations over the course of five days, where  the Sharm El-Sheikh Declaration and 7 resolutions were adopted. Additionally, the U.S. has been selected to host  the tenth session of the conference. COSP9 witnessed a wide range of discussions and over 70 special events that addressed various issues, including the recovery of stolen assets, gender dimensions of corruption, preventing sports-related corruption, promoting education, and advancing youth engagement in the fight against corruption.

Dr, Ghada Wali, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNODC, stated: "As the year 2021 comes to an end, with all its challenges, and with many important commitments in the fight against corruption made during this historic year, let us agree that 2022 will be the year of action. Let us fulfill our promises to the people and the youth, that we will not let anyone down, and we will leave no one behind.”
