In line with the state’s efforts to promote the values of governance, administrative reform, and develop institutional performance to improve health services provided to citizens, the Administrative Control Authority, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), organized the training program for the staff of internal audit and governance units in the health sector nationwide. The training was held at the headquarters of the Administrative Control Authority, with the participation of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development Affairs and Minister of Health and Population; Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation; Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; and Engineer Hatem Nabil, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration. This was in the presence of Mr. Ghimar Deeb, Deputy Resident Representative and Officer-in-Charge, UNDP; a group of local and international experts; in addition to several officials from the health services provision sector across governorates.

The opening session included a review of the state’s efforts in operationalization of the internal audit and governance units within the framework of strategies to prevent and combat corruption, and the role of internal audit units in the Ministry of Health in improving the quality of healthcare services and strengthening control and accountability mechanisms. It also included panel discussions of the concept of governance, its stages of development in health systems, and the role of digital transformation as a proactive system to reduce corruption. It further reviewed and discussed the best international practices and experiences in this field, while addressing the impact of these measures on attracting investments and financing for the health sector.
 
The events scheduled to run through 19th June will include panel discussions and the formation of working groups with the view of reviewing the results achieved in the health sector governance file across Egypt. The events shall also highlight the successful practices at the government level and civil society initiatives, as well as enhance the participants’ skills to apply the corruption risk management methodology and impact assessment criteria.
