Pursuant to the directives of the President of the Republic to preserve citizens' rights to access services as well as streamline and secure governance of procedures, the Complaints and Communications System at the Administrative Control Authority received grievances in two separate instances. The head of a neighborhood and the organizational engineer in South Cairo area, and the director of an engineering department in a district in east Cairo abused their power and suspended the construction permit licensing procedures though the companies were eligible. Those officials asked for a bribe to complete the legal procedures. The investigations conducted validated what is attributed to the accused.  According to the decision of the Prosecutor General, the accused were apprehended upon receipt of the bribe. The Public Prosecution initiated investigations, and the cases were referred to the competent courts. The courts passed deterrent sentences: rigorous imprisonment of 7 years, a 5- year imprisonment and a fine.

The Administrative Control Authority affirms its firm commitment to take strict legal action against any attempts of power abuse of public office and prejudice to the interests of citizens.
