On the sidelines of the 13th session of the Implementation Review Group and the 13th session of the Open-ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, Minister Hassan AbdelShafi Ahmed, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, and the President of the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP9), convened today with Mr. Phillips Neri Kouuthon,  Head of the Higher Authority for State Control and the Fight Against Corruption (ASCE-LC) and State Inspector General of Burkina Faso.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed future cooperation with regards to the issues of common interest, such as preventing and combating corruption; raising awareness of the hazards of corruption; exchanging anti-corruption knowledge and expertise; and transferring Egypt’s anti-corruption strategy implementation and follow up know-how through experts and training programs, which shall be offered to anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies in Burkina Faso at the Egyptian Anti-Corruption Academy (EACA).

 

Burkina Faso commended the Administrative Control Authority’s Presidency of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (COSP9) in Sharm El Sheik in December 2021, as well as its moderation of the  UNCAC’s Working Groups  in Vienna. 

The meeting, which concluded with an agreement to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two sides to enhance mutual cooperation in the coming period, was attended by the Ambassador of  Burkina Faso to Austria and the Permanent Representative of  the State to the United Nations.
